We got our start in the spring of 2014 when an exuberant, mustachioed professor by the name of Regis Tucci discussed filming medical pioneers with Dr. Patrick Page. Dr. Page had been itching to capture the rich medical history of the original physicians of the Grand Valley before they all passed away.
Brenden Fatchett and Kayla Niksic were soon approached by Tucci, and through various methods of brainstorming, we came up with a new plan to document the stories of these physicians. By April of that year, we already had our first interview under our belts.
In the winter of 2015, the project came to a halt when our close friend and mentor, Regis Tucci, passed away suddenly. We had to decide whether we should try to continue, or let the project rest with our friend. We pushed on. Things moved quickly from there. In the spring of 2015, Kokopelli Pictures LLC was established and by October, we had officially finished The Secret Sauce—a documentary highlighting Grand Junction’s health care system and why it’s nationally recognized. From there, Kokopelli Pictures worked with Colorado Mesa University’s Maverick Innovation Center—an entrepreneurial center to help students launch their ideas. The center helped launch Kokopelli Pictures to the next level and we became the first registered company through the accelerator program.
Kayla Niksic and Brenden Fatchett graduated from Colorado Mesa University in the spring of 2017.
They began to garner work primarily in the manufacturing industry, and as their time with new clients grew, so did their services. Rather than just focusing on video production, Kokopelli Pictures began to take on both print and digital marketing, website re-design and branding.
In the fall of 2018, Kokopelli Pictures rebranded and became, simply, Kokopelli. At this point in time, we were doing far more than just video production and photography. We didn’t want our company name to represent limited services. By removing ‘Pictures,’ we could now move forward and represent ourselves as a full-service marketing agency rather than just a production company.
Kokopelli® now works across multiple industries to help educate, challenge, and inspire our audiences. We work with a variety of marketing platforms to fully capture and develop a marketing strategy that is tailored to each specific client. Now pushing forward with an updated identity, we can’t wait to see what changes await us in the future!
Chief Executive Officer
Kayla has always had a thirst to explore, discover and experience new things—specifically when it comes to anything outdoors. In high school, this began to intertwine with her newfound love of documenting everything she experienced. It wasn’t until she began to attend Colorado Mesa University, though, that she began to realize that these two passions could be her future.
After co-owning the company for over 3 years, Kayla has grown especially fond of working with, not only video production, but also print and digital design. She loves starting with a clean sheet and watching it transform into something visually appealing and effective that can make a difference for clients.
Kayla also loves being able to work closely with clients. It’s one of the biggest reasons she’s so proud of Kokopelli, because “we can become a part of your family, and that’s so special to us.”
When she isn’t working, Kayla continues to find solace in the outdoors, through backpacking, rock climbing, camping and skiing.
Chief Strategy & Creative Officer
Brenden Fatchett is the Chief Strategy & Creative Officer of Kokopelli. He’s worked across the digital marketing spectrum and loves creating value-based solutions. As a systems-based thinker, he’s always ruminating about how things interact and operate together.
He’s been working and developing websites since he was 10, and has continually expanded his skill set along the way. His biggest passion is working closely with clients to see their brand grow and thrive.
Outside of video production, Brenden loves to enjoy all that Colorado has to offer. He loves to hike, camp, ski, and explore the outdoors.
Brenden is also a sports fan through and through. He can be found watching Broncos, Rockies, Avalanche, and Nuggets games.
Dr. Patrick Page
Producer, Writer, Research
Dr. Patrick Page has always been the type of person who thrives off of helping others. This is one of the many reasons he chose to become a family physician. Not only would he be spending his life caring for others, but he would have the opportunity to really get to know each of his patients, becoming a part of their lives.
When Pat had the idea to capture the stories of Grand Junction’s pioneer physicians, he garnered the help of Brenden and Kayla to film these testimonies—the rest is history. In the last 3 years, they have continued to work together to document Grand Junction’s renowned healthcare system.
When he’s not caring for his patients, Pat finds himself hitting the slopes at Powderhorn, biking the Kokopelli Trail and caring for his two donkeys, Wilber and Carl.
